If they monitor internet usage at work, can they read yahoo emails you open at work at a later date?

A friend ask me this and I am not sure. What they wanted to know if I opened it 2 months ago can they go back

open it and read it now?|||Yes, it's possible. If they are taking screen shots and storing them on a server somewhere then they can. However, it is highly unlikely that they would keep them for that period of time.

HTH|||Depending on the monitoring system they use, yes, they can. Best thing to do is not do personal internet stuff at work.|||only if they have your password to get into Yahoo.|||Depends on what they are storing.|||there are ways they can do that.....it just depends on how far they're taking the monitoring....are they just monitoring usage....are they going as far as using key loggers?|||If they are employing monitoring techniques that include keylogging, they can actually log into youtr yahoo account and read everything, I think that'd be an invasion of privacy if not agreed to upon employment though. So, in short, depends on their monitoring policy and their ethical standing.|||Sure, but there are some things to consider. What type of network is the company using and are they using servers? If they are using a mail server they can go back years, especially if they back up the server for storage which most large companies do. Mail on company computers is stored for legal reasons these days. Web usage may not be stored for long periods unless there are compelling reasons, like they are trying to terminate someone and need proof of wrong doing.

An employee at my company was terminated this year and improper e-mail and Web use was part of his falling, the company had his history from the servers, he was being targeted.

There are products to track all employees at work, the equipment belongs to the employer, and they can target suspected employees.
