Good open ended questions to ask on a date?

Going for a few drinks with a girl tomorrow night for a date, what are some good topics/ questions apart from the usual boring, what do you do/ what music do you like/ films etc which I already know about her, so that it doesn't become awkward?

Also, any tips on how to make a good impression other then not turning up dresses like a tramp?|||As a female, I hate it when guys try too hard with the conversation thing. If you know what she likes, then ask more in depth questions about that. Here are some topics you could try: 1) traveling overseas, if so, where? 2) books she's read 3) does she like sports 4) favorite things to when she isn't busy - keep talking about her and try not to yawn :-) 6) compliment her clothes - where does she shop, who does her hair 7) what does she like to watch on tv 8) what are her pet peeves 9) what are her aspirations in life 10) does she date often, what's her type 11) what is the ultimate date for her|||Ask her what her dream job is, what she does now, and what she wanted to do as a kid. Most of the time chicks do something extremely different than their dreams, and ask her why she didn't pursue her dream. Tell her she really should, and give her advice. Chicks like optimistic guys, and most likely she'll smile and say, "Alright, and what was your dream."

Brush up on some fun and interesting facts so you almost always have something interesting to say about anything she might say. Like just totally random facts about anything. It'll make you look smarter, and more fun.|||Ok, shave, clean your fingernails (and trim).

Wear gentle cologne or deodorant, but don't drench yourself in it.

Questions, as her if she's seen the new 'Film'.

If she has, ask her what she thought.

Ask her where she grew up, just about herself. People love to talk more than listen, so questions that mean she can talk are good. Just make sure you comment every so often to show you're listening! :)
