Unopened tub of tzatziki yogurt, 3 months past its stamped date - if I open it, is it safe?

Hi,

I have a refrigerated, unopened tub (plastic, with foil seal) of tzatziki yogurt which is dated Oct 21, 2010 (does not specify expiry, sell-by, best before, etc). Seeing as it is unopened, is it still safe to consume? General guidelines for how long it would last thereafter? Milk products in general?

Thank you!|||Before you open it, shake it, does it sound like the right consistency? open it and look and smell it, is all of that smelling/looking okay, then, taste a little. if it was properly sealed then it should be okay unless anything above isnt looking too good, if not, just toss it in the trash!|||Always check the date stamp on the carton when purchasing yogurt. The date is usually a sell-by date, which means the yogurt is still safe to eat several days beyond that date.

Containers should be refrigerated and tightly sealed. If you buy the freshest-marked container in the grocery store, you can usually store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, but it becomes much stronger in flavor at the end of that period. It is best to plan on using it within a week of purchase.

In other words...I would not eat it!

As for milk product in general...check out this link. http://www.straighten-up-now.com/dairy-s?/a> It will give you a list of dairy product and the recommended storage length.|||if its sealed, not puffy, tastes okay, they just try a little|||toss it
