How do I sort by date in excel? I sell books and I can generate a report to show all my open listing, but I only want certain dates. The dates don't go in order. The dates show up as 2006-12-31, 2007-01-02. How do I sort out the date with the item that is on the same column? Thanks so much!

That's what it looks like but on one column across.|||select the data
goto
data
sort
and follow the prompts|||All the dates and ONLY the dates need to be either in one column or one row. Column is much easier.|||Make sure all of your dates are in one collum then :
Highlight all of your data
then in the menu bar select Data then sort
a window will come up and you will then select by collum
(and it is what ever solt you have all your dates in )
and to get the date to be normal select the collum your dates are in and selected modify collum another box will show up and select numbers then Date and you can have your dates displayed which ever way you want them to so it can say 01/07/07 instead of 2007-01-07|||I assume you have selected the full width and depth of all your records. On the menu you will find Data %26gt; sort. If you include top row in your selection, you will see all the field names %26gt; choose date %26gt; hit OK.
I'll assume your dates have all been entered in the same format eg date cf text . . . . After the sort, check the result looks ok before resaving. To select between ranges of dates, use the Help facility, or merely highlight the range you want to print.
Hope this helps
