What does open contract with no end date mean?

I took a position that has an open contract w/ no end date. What are the pro %26amp; cons of it. Will I get a chance to become perm or the company keeps me on as long-term temp?|||Several people I known have worked as contractors, less than half were hired as perms.

In a few cases, the company was hiring them as temps with the express purpose of hiring the best as perm. employees.

In most cases the person was offered a perm position when the persons contract was ending and rather than lose them, the company hired them.

I don't think any of them really had a no end date contract.

Still, I think it really depends on the company. You should talk with the people working there and ask them, how long they been working there and how they became a perm.
