Is it open to date others if you are not necessarily in a relationship?

So me and this guy have been dating but there is no mention of us being in a relationship. Can we date others or what? I mean i talked to him but he just said that its best to see what happens like if we do end up together or not|||Do you want to date someone else? Do you want him to date someone else? If the answer is 'No' to either of these then thats your answer in my opinion.|||if you are not in a relationship and each of you agree with it. then it should be ok
